Services Held For John Van Deusen

Services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont Tuesday, January 17, for John H. Van Deusen, 81, of Fremont who died January 14, 1984.

The Rev. Donald Levenhagen officiated. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery at Fremont.

John Harry Van Deusen was born December 7, 1902, at Kennard, Nebraska, to Harvey Gilmore and Mae Mason Tucker Van Deusen. He married Irene Mae Aten January 1, 1928, at Ragan, Nebraska.

They farmed in Phelps County for eight years and then farmed in Washington County until retiring and moving into Fremont in 1968.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont.

He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Eggleston; a sister, Ella Jensen; and brothers, Raymond and William Van Deusen.

He is survived by his wife, Irene; a daughter, Donna Plymate of Fremont; and sons, Jim Van Deusen of Knoxville, Tennessee and Jack Ward of Venice, California, nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Potter of Orange, California; and a step-sister, Bertha (Mrs. Louis) Policz of Omaha.

Memorials may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church or the donor’s favorite charity.

Ludvigsen Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
