Eva E. Engen, 96

Eva E. Engen, 96, of Modale, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 11, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Eva Ellen Engen was born Aug. 12, 1911, on the family farm near Mondamin, Iowa.

She married Elmer Engen on May 23, 1933, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. They farmed together west of Modale until retiring and moving into their new home in Modale. After retirement, the couple enjoyed traveling, gardening, and fishing together. After her husband's death in 1987, Mrs. Engen continued traveling and bowling with friends and family.

She is survived by her sister, Grace (McIntosh) Baker; sisters-in-law, Ann McIntosh and Delores McIntosh, all of Blair; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Frances "Sock" McIntosh, John McIntosh, Harvey "Sam" McIntosh; sisters, Ada Peggy, Gladys (McIntosh) Peterson and Goldie (McIntosh) Houdesheldt.

Memorials are suggested to the Modale Fire and Rescue Squads.
