VanDeusen Died Fri. Of Heart Attack

Funeral Services To Be Held Tuesday At Methodist Church

George VanDeusen, 56 years of age, died Friday at his home in Blair of a heart attack.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, at the Blair Methodist Church, the Rev. Don Springer officiating. Interment will be in Blair Cemetery.

Mr. VanDeusen is survived by his wife, Leatha; a daughter, Mrs. Wesley Sprick (Ruth Ann); three grandchildren, Barbara, Linda and Susan Joi Sprick; a brother, Earol, of Seattle, Wash.; and a sister, Mrs. Pat McCormick (Leota) of Westminster, Colo.

Mr. VanDeusen was born Aug. 6, 1903, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Claude VanDeusen, who came to Washington County in 1874 and farmed west of Blair. He attended Brewster School and graduated from Blair High School.

Mr. and Mrs. VanDeusen were married in 1926. After farming for two years, he obtained a position with the Ford Motor Co. in Omaha. He became interested in heavy construction work and obtained a position in Oklahoma, later moving to Rhode Island where he worked for the Army Engineers.

In 1946 he went into business for himself; and since then has been in soil conservation work in this area.

He was a member of the Blair Masonic Lodge and the Blair Lions Club.

Mr. VanDeusen was downtown Friday morning, returning home shortly before noon. The VanDeusens were seated at the dinner table, when he was stricken with a heart attack and died.
