Fern West, 82, Buried At Herman

Fern West, a long-time hotel operator in Herman, died at the Blair Hospital Saturday, October 18th. He had been in failing health for several months.

The deceased was born in Tekamah April 18, 1893 and spent his entire life in the Tekamah-Herman-Blair area. Most of his active business life was devoted to the hotel business in Herman.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel, and by one daughter and three stepchildren.

The daughter is Mrs. Doris Richards of Vancouver, Washington. The others are Gerald Callahan of Omaha, Mrs. Robert C. Frye, of Ainsworth and Robert Callahan, of California.

A brother, Glen West, lives in California. There are three sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Adams, of California, Mrs. Opal Jensen of Omaha and Mrs. Gail Drayer, of Florida.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Campbell Mortuary in Blair. The Rev. John Petersen conducted the service. Burial was made in the Herman Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Frank Korshoj, Chester Sutton, Howard Hanson, Milton Hansen, Wayne Steinbaugh and Fred Jack.
