Gertrude West

Services for Gertrude Mae West, 89, of Blair, who died Thursday, February 6, 1986, at the Good Shepherd Home in Blair, were held Saturday, February 8, at the Herman Methodist Church. The Rev. Larry Orivs officiated and burial was in the Herman Cemetery.

Mrs. West was born September 12, 1896, the daughter of Uriah and Emma Thompson of Woodbine, Iowa. She moved to Tekamah with her parents when she was two years old.

She married William Jennings West in 1916. They lived in Herman until moving to Blair in 1969. For the past five years she has been a resident of the Good Shepherd Home in Blair.

Survivors include one son, James West of Omaha; three daughters, Mrs. Virginia Rogert of Herman, Mrs. Jack (Patricia) Short of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. John (Jean) Kelly of Valley; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and one sister.

Pallbearers were Emmett Rogert, Frank Korshoj, James Hancock, Vernon Clements, Roy Hansen and Jim Andrew.

Organist was Gracie Husk and vocalist was Keith Hightree.

Campbell Funeral Home of Blair was in charge of arrangements.
