Jennings West, Herman Business Man, Is Dead

Jennings West, longtime business man at Herman, died Monday at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. He had been living at Blair in retirement in recent months but had been a resident of the county for his entire life.

William Jennings West was born at Herman February 9, 1896 where he grew to manhood, entered business and spent most of his life. He was 74 years of age at the time of his death. He attended the Herman schools and as an adult entered the garage business in Herman.

He was married to Miss Mae Thompson who survives his death.

He is also survived by one son, James West of Omaha and by three daughters. They are Mrs. Arnold (Virginia) of Herman; Mrs. Jack Short (Patricia) of Houston, Texas and Mrs. John Kelly (Emma Jean) of Valley, Nebraska. There are 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Fern West of Blair and Glen West of Berkeley, California are brothers of the deceased man. Sisters are Mrs. Ellender Adams, of Sherman Oaks, California and Mrs. Gail Drayer and Mrs. Opal Jansen, both of Omaha.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Herman Baptist Church with the Rev. Zack Kleinsasser conducting the service. Burial was made in the Herman Cemetery under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary of Blair.

The pallbearers were Emmett Rogert, Joe Fitch, Frank Korshoj, Roy Hansen, William Cameron and Howard Laughlin.

Note: He is buried in Plot 27 in the Herman Cemetery.
