Former Kennard Resident Dies In Omaha Nov. 5

A Service of Christian Remembrance was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Mary L. West, at the Kramer Funeral Home of Omaha, with the Rev. John E. Fritzmeier officiating. Interment was at the Hillcrest Cemetery of Omaha. Mary West, formerly of Kennard, had lived with her daughter, Margaret, in Omaha for some time until serious health problems made her enter the OEA manor where she passed away on Friday, November 5. She was born December 23, 1888 and was over 87 years of age at the time of her passing.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Baker of Omaha, by 3 sons, Dick of Westminster, California; Jack of Fairborn, Ohio; and Chuck of Manassas, Virginia, also by two sisters, Mrs. Anna Kellogg of Caldwell, Idaho; and (Emma) Mrs. Chris Christensen of Chappel, Nebraska; as well as by 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was married to Charles H. West on September 12, 1917 and he passed away March 27, 1967 at the age of 81. They moved to Kennard, Nebraska around 1945 and she worked closely with her husband in COOP work and also the Insurance Business which she carried on after his death, until serious health problems made it impossible to do so. Mary had a host of friends in Kennard and Omaha and many other parts of Nebraska because of her loving spirit of helpfulness.
