Robert L. West died at the home of his son in Sioux City on Wednesday of last week after a lingering illness of heart trouble, dropsy and other ailments. The funeral was held in Herman Friday afternoon Deceased was born in Huron, Ind., September 5, *1855, coming to Nebraska 43 years ago. He has lived in Herman most of the time since then. The earlier years of his life were spent in railroad work. Twenty years ago he lost his leg in a railroad accident at Sioux City. A day or two later his wife, who was sick in the same hospital to which he was taken, passed away. He is survive by *six sons; Wm. O. West, Chicago; Ora E. West, of Michigan; Clay West of Philadelphia; Frank of Blair, and two daughters, Maude, living in Texas, and Alice, of Reardon, Wash; two brothers, Greely and Killus West of Herman, and one sister, Mrs. George Smith, of Herman, besides numerous other relatives.

The deceased was born in Huron, Indiana, September 5, *1858, coming to Nebraska with his parents 43 years ago. The earlier years of his life were spent in railroad work. Twenty years ago he was injured in a railroad accident at Sioux City and a few days later his wife, who was ill at the same hospital, passed away. He is survived by *six sons, Wm. O. West, of Chicago, Ora E. West, Michigan, Clay West, Philadelphia, Troy West, Sioux City and Nelson West, Sioux City and two daughters, Maude, of Texas, and Alice at Reardon, Washington, two brothers, Greely ad Killus, and sister, Mrs. Geo. Smith, all of Herman. The funeral services was held in Herman Friday afternoon at the Baptist Church.

Robert L. West was born at Huron, Indiana September 5th, 1859, and passed away at Sioux City, Iowa Wednesday October 31st, 1923.

Death was due to heart trouble and dropsy. He has been a resident here for more than forty years, and only went to Sioux City a couple of weeks ago to be with his sons during his last days.

The body was brought here on the six o’clock train Thursday evening, and funeral services held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Baptist church, conducted by Rev. Reese.

He is survived by five sons and two daughters: Wm. West of Chicago; Ora E. West of Michigan; Clay of Philadelphia; Troy and Nels of Sioux City; Maude, who lives in Texas; and Alice of Reardon, Washington. Two brothers, Horace C. and Killus and one sister, Mrs. Geo. Smith of Herman.
