Opal Westergaard of Kent, Washington and formerly of the Blair and Arlington Area, died Monday, March 9, at Auburn General Hospital in Auburn, Washington.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, March 14, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum. Rev. Norman Lillegard will officiate.

Burial will be at the Orum Cemetery.

Westergaard was born May 12, 1919, in rural Blair to Jessie and Mabel (Henthorne) Hansen.

On February 2, 1938, she married Ernest Westergaard.

They lived in Arlington from 1946 to 1969, where they ran a produce station. Prior to that, they lived in the Blair area.

She was a former member of the First Lutheran Church in Fremont.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest Westergaard; two daughters, Mrs. Benjamin (Erna) Waggoner, and Mrs. Donna Jones, both of Seattle, Washington; three sisters, Elva Barry of Long Beach, California; Gertrude Moser of Omaha, and Beulah Hansen of Seattle, Washington; and two brothers, Earl Hansen and Kenneth Hansen, both of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials are suggested to the Diabetes Foundation or the donor’s favorite charity.
