Elmer Westermann

ARLINGTON – The funeral for Elmer W. Westermann, 82, of Arlington will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington.

Mr. Westermann died Wednesday, April 8, 1992, at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County. He was a retired farmer.

He was born Oct. 7, 1909, in Leslie, Mo., and grew up there. He came to Nebraska in 1933 and settled in the Arlington area. He retired farming in 1963 and then worked at Gnuse Construction until 1983. He did furniture refinishing until his death.

Mr. Westermann was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church near Arlington, was an elder at the church, a church trustee,was on the finance committee, on St. Paul’s school board and a member of the Arlington Rural Fire Board.

He married Clara Scheer Aug. 8, 1937, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Delvin of Arlington; two daughters, Mrs. Dyral (Illene) Dunklau of Arlington and Mrs. Ron (Carol) Dickmeyer of Omaha; a sister, Ida Mincemeyer of Union, Mo.; seven grandchildren and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

The Rev. Michael Rogers will officiate Saturday’s service. Visitation will be 4-9 tonight and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, both at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington and an hour before service time at the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the church.
