James 'Jim' A. McVeigh, 71

James "Jim" A. McVeigh, 71, of Herman, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Good Shepherd in Blair.

Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 2, at the Herman Cemetery.

James "Jim" McVeigh was born on March 26, 1941, in Spalding to Raymond and Pearl (Sparks) McVeigh.

He lived in Herman most of his life. He was a graduate of Herman High School and served in the U.S. Air Force.

Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he moved back to Herman and began working in the family business at McVeigh's Bar 73 and Steakhouse.

He ended his working career in the tele-sales industry.

He is survived by his twin sister and brother-in-law, Janie and Tom Simmons of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Andrea McVeigh of Omaha; and friend, Louise Snyder, who was very helpful and caring during his illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Pidge McVeigh; and sister, Beverly Vogel.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair was in charge of arrangements.
