Dies At Hydro, Okla.

Was A Member Of Well-Known Hovendick Family Of County

Mrs. Sam Van Huss, 74, died Thursday at her home in Hydro, Okla. following an illness of several months duration. A member of the Hovendick family, well-known throughout Washington county, Mrs. Van Huss’ death was the second in a family of nine.

Funeral services were held at the Bendorf Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon, with the Rev. D. D. Kennedy of the Blair Baptist church officiating. Burial was in Blair cemetery.

Survivors include: the husband and two children, Paul and Alice, all of Hydro, Okla.; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Grabbe and Mrs. Emma Skinner of Herman, and Mrs. Carrie Rosenbaum of Blair; and four brothers, Louis and Henry of Herman, Frank of Blair, and Ed of Omaha. A large number of nephews, nieces and other relatives also survive.

FORMER BLAIRITE DIES IN OKLAHOMA

Death came to Mrs. S. V. Van Huss of Hydro, Oklahoma on January 6th, 1944. Deceased was Hannah Amelia Hovendick before her marriage to S. V. Van Huss on September 29th, 1898.

After their marriage they lived in Washington County until 1909 when they moved to Hydro, Oklahoma, where they were still living at her death.

She leaves to mourn her death, besides her husband, one son, Paul and one daughter, Alice Walker and six grandchildren, all of Oklahoma. Besides the immediate family, sisters, Mrs. Mack Rosenbaum, Mrs. Fred Grabbe and Mrs. John Skinner, all of this vicinity and four brothers, Henry, Frank, and Louis all of Blair, and J. E. of Omaha besides a host of relatives and friends.

The body was brought to Blair where the last sad rites were held on Wednesday afternoon from the Bendorf Funeral Home, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
