Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 23, at First United Methodist Church in Blair for Glen Mitchell Vanness, 80 who died August 20, 1989 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Glen Mitchell Vanness was born March 11, 1909 in Bloomfield, Nebraska to Frank and Edith Johnson Vanness. He attended school in Bloomfield.

He married LaVern Spellman on July 16, 1936 in Yankton, South Dakota. They moved to Mount Vernon, Missouri where they farmed, then moved back to Bloomfield. They moved to Modale, Iowa in 1947 where he farmed for 28 years. He retired in 1975.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and one sister.

He is survived by his wife, LaVern of Blair; a son, Dale of Modale, Iowa; and daughters, Carol Christensen of Omaha, Linda Hackett of Bailey, Colorado and Cleo Hand of Green Valley, Arizona. Ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Loy Vanness of Wausa, Nebraska; and two sisters, Berneat Lone and Geneva Jacobsen, both of California also survive him.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the services.
