Pauline S. Varley, 80

Pauline S. Varley, 80, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at her home in Blair.

A Rosary is slated for 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 15, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 16, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Pauline S. Varley was born March 3, 1925, in Blair to J. Harold and Merle (Taylor) Stewart. She was a graduate of Blair High School, and lived her entire life in Blair.

On Sept. 28, 1945, she married John “Jack” Varley in Omaha.

Mrs. Varley worked in the food service department at Blair High school for 17 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of St. francis Borgia Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Council of Catholic Women and member of the Blair American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Melinda Varley and Dr. Hal Pumphrey of Lincoln; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Barb Varley of Phoenix, Ariz., Dennis and Kate Varley of Coopersburg, Penn.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janet Hurd of Denver, Colo., and Marianna Berkley of Virginia Beach, Va.; sister-in-law, Jeanne Stewart, and brother-in-law, Gerald Varley, both of Blair.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; brother, Jon Stewart; and sister, Jean Colborn.

Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church or the Blair Family YMCA.
