Paula Vasby, 62

Former Blair resident Paula Vasby, 62, of Cambridge, Wis., died peacefully at her home on Nov. 11, 2009, after an eight-month battle with brain cancer.

Services were Nov. 27 at Grace Lutheran Church in Cambridge.

Paula Westfall was born Sept. 2, 1947, in Omaha to James and Nina (Burwell) Westfall. She graduated from Benson High School in 1965 and from Dana College in 1969.

She married Phil Vasby, a fellow Dana graduate, on March 21, 1970, in LaGrange, Ill. The couple taught in Blair before moving to Wisconsin in 1972.

Mrs. Vasby was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was active in the choir and worship committee.

She is survived by her husband, Phil, of Cambridge; son, Joshua Vasby of Portland, Ore.; daughters and son-in-law, Jenna and Ryan Ellickson, and Chloe Vasby, all of Cambridge; two grandchildren; parents; brother, Robert Westfall and sister and brother-in-law, Barb and Steve Veitch, all of Arizona; in-laws, Dagmar Vasby, Don and Joyce Jorgensen, and Chuck and Marilyn Roum of Wisconsin, Tim and Lu Brown of Blair, and Owen and Pat Vasby of Colorado.

Memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church, Hospice Inc., or the American Cancer Society.
