Mrs. H. Vaughan Died May 25th

Mrs. Hugh Vaughn passed away at the Blair Community Memorial Hospital Thursday morning, May 25th. Although she has spent the past 18 years in a wheelchair because of arthritis, she was ill only a short time before her death.

Marie Schmidt was born on February 22, 1889 and was married to Louis Karn. They lived in Ft. Calhoun. Four children were born to this union. They are Mrs. Carl Kolterman (Irene) of Blair, Mrs. Louise Cary of Omaha, Mrs. Neil McMillian (Gladys) of Dodge City, Kansas and a son, Oscar Karn of Omaha.

Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Karn was married to Hugh Vaughn and they were the parents of a son, Robert Vaughn who preceded his mother in death. Mr. Vaughn passed away in August of 1956.

Mrs. Vaughn moved to an apartment in Blair last year and was self-sufficient regardless of her handicap of being confined to a wheel chair. She was a member of the Ft. Calhoun Presbyterian church and Royal Neighbor Lodge.

Besides her four children, she is survived by four brothers: William and Pete Schmidt of Ft. Calhoun, Ernest Schmidt of Omaha and Carl Schmidt of West Point. Also two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The Sievers Mortuary at Ft. Calhoun is in charge of arrangements. Services will be in the Presbyterian Church and Rev. Donald Killin will officiate. The time and date of service have not been announced.
