Former Herman Girl Killed In Saturday Crash

A one car accident cost the life of a 16 year old girl, Diane Vaughn, of Tekamah, last Saturday evening. She is the daughter of Mr. Leo Vaughn, formerly of Herman.

Four teenagers were on a gravel road near Decatur and it has been reported that the car rolled about nine times before it came to a stop.

Others injured in the accident were Gary Salzman of Decatur, the driver, Miss Evadine Beaver and Jim McClusky of Tekamah. All were hospitalized.

Miss Diane Vaughn was born August 12, 1950 to Mr. and Mrs. Leo Vaughn. Her mother, Lola Vinderslev Vaughn died on April 15, 1963.

She is survived by her father, a step mother, three sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Ricker of Herman; Annette, at home; Sandra LaScala of Omaha and a brother, Gilbert LaScala of El Paso, Texas.

Diane would have been a senior in the Tekamah High School next year. Six of her classmates served as pallbearers at the funeral Wednesday afternoon at 2 P.M. at the Herman Baptist Church. The Rev. Dudley Carter officiated. Burial was in the Herman Cemetery. The Hamel & Peck Mortuary of Tekamah was in charge of arrangements.
