Ninna F. Engskow, 97, of Blair, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2006, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at the chapel at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home. There is no visitation. Interment will be in the Arlington Cemetery.

Ninna F. Schultz was born March 9, 1909, in Blair to the Rev. Anton and Ingeborg (Anker) Schultz. She graduated from Racine High School in Racine, Wis., and attended Dana College in Blair for two years. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in education. She taught elementary school for a number of years.

On June 1, 1935, she married the Rev. Ben Engskow in Omaha. After her marriage, Mrs. Engskow helped her husband in his ministries at parishes in Dannebrog, Ruskin, Geneva, and Belgrade, and rural Stewart, Minn., Indianapolis, Ind. and Fresno, Calif.

The couple retired to Fremont in 1975.

In 1992, Mrs. Engskow moved to Johansen Manor in Blair. She had been residing at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home since May 2006.

She was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Blair, the church circle and the church quilting group. She did volunteer work at the Good Shepherd Home and at the Danish Immigrant Archives at Dana College, where she translated Danish into English.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Rosalie Engskow of Marco Island, Fla., daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Eugene Gnuse of Arlington; sister, Inga Larsen of Cedar Falls, Iowa; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben, in 1981; and a brother, John Schultz.

Memorials are suggested to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home; Dana College; the Danish Immigrant Archives at Blair; and the Oaks Indian Center in Oaks, Okla.
