Bonnie M. Whalen, 45

Bonnie M. Whalen, 45 of Blair died Wednesday, April 16, 1997 at her home after a long illness with cancer.

Services were April 22 at Mary our Queen Church. Rev. Carl A. Salinitro and Rev. James Schwertley officiated. Burial was in Ridgewood Cemetery in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Whalen was born May 24, 1951 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She graduated from Marian High School in Omaha in 1969. She graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1975 and attended Colorado State University. She was vice president of Central Veterinary Supply Co. She married Phil Larkin 19 years ago.

She was a member of the Junior Arabian Horse Association of Nebraska, worked with Special Olympics, Girl Scouts and the Odyssey of the Mind. She was also a volunteer computer teacher in Blair Community Schools.

Survivors are her husband, Phil; a daughter, Kathleen Whalen Larkin, both of Blair; her mother, Edna Jean (Mrs. Lewis) Whalen Shields of Scottsdale, Ariz; a sister, Kathy Rohman of Blair and a brother, Daniel F. Whalen of Solvan, Calif.

Honorary bears were Bonnie Sandleben, Barb LeRouge, Mary Socha, Barb Kabes, Susan Baron and Ceis McCarthy Ramey.

Paulette Smith was organist. Gerald Holbrook was vocalist.

Memorials may be given to the Arabian Horse Association of Nebraska or the Methodist Hospital Hospice Program.

John A. Gentleman Westside Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
