Betty Wheeler, 60

Services were Tuesday, December 26, at First Presbyterian Church for Tekamah business woman Betty Lou Wheeler, 60. Mrs. Wheeler died unexpectedly December 22, 1989 at an Omaha hospital. Rev. Thomas E. Robson officiated. Burial was at Tekamah Cemetery.

With her husband, the late Jim Wheeler, she owned and operated Wheeler’s Steak House and Lounge since July 1, 1971. Mrs. Wheeler continued to run the business after Wheeler’s death on April 27, 1989.

She was born March 2, 1929 at Tekamah to Glen and Cora (Strain) Gorey and lived in the area most of her life. She married James F. Wheeler in Papillion on July 25, 1955.

Survivors include daughters, Jackie Wheeler, New York, New York; Jan Raver, Tekamah; stepdaughter, Nancy Nelson, Aurora, Colorado; stepson, James Wheeler, Lincoln; one grandchild and three stepgrandchildren.

Leanne Dorathy was organist.

Casket bearers were Clark Lipps, Larry Elliott, Randy Olson, Jerry Glup, Robert Shunake and Denzel Weatherly.

Honorary casket bearers were Gordon Cram, Jack Triplett, Lorin Lipps, Gerald Hawkins, Ivan Lydick and Ray Barger.

Hamel-Peck was in charge of arrangements.
