Pioneer Settler Called To Rest

Mrs. Wm. Epling, Former Washington County Resident, Passes Away at Riverside Hospital, California, Tuesday, Dec. 18th.

Reared In This County

Word reached Blair late Tuesday evening that Mrs. Wm. Epling, formerly of this county, had passed away at the hospital in Riverside, Calfornia.

Mrs. Epling is the daughter of Mrs. Elias Wilcox, who still resides on the old homestead in the Maney school district on which she has resided since 1857, when, with her husband and infant daughter, Mrs. Epling, they came from Illinois to make this her home.

Mrs. Epling grew to womanhood on the old farm and later married Wm. Epling. For a number of years after their marriage, they were in business in Kennard, but left Kennard to reside on what was known as the Joe Wranch farm which they purchased and on which they resided for a number of years.

At the time of the raise in the price of farmland, they sold their holdings and later moved to California where they have since made their home, making occasional visits back to their old home. One of these visits was made last summer and they had returned to their home in the middle of September.

She leaves to mourn her loss, two brothers, Messrs. Phin and Marshall Wilcox and her mother, Mrs. Elias Wilcox of the county and five children: Mrs. Rufus West of Riverside, Calif; Earl Epling of Los Angeles; Mrs. C. B. Mehrens of Calhoun; Glenn Epling of Riverside, Calif. and Mrs. Ruth Massard of Ouray, Colorado and seven grandchildren.
