Lester Eldon Wheeler, 80

Memorial services for Lester Eldon Wheeler, 80, of Las Vegas, Nevada who died August 14, 1991 were Friday, August 16 at Nelson-Boylan Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa. Rev. Steven Goad of First Christian Church officiated. Burial was in Palm Memorial Park at Las Vegas, Nevada.

Lester Eldon Wheeler was born March 6, 1911 at Lucas, Iowa to John F. and Cora Waugh Wheeler.

He married Irene Bengston August 10, 1952 in Maryville, Missouri.

He worked in Red Oak at the Safeway Store and the Coast-to-Coast Store for several years before moving to Blair where he managed the Safeway Store for 20 years. He then operated the Blue Ribbon Bar and Restaurant in Blair until his retirement when he moved to Las Vegas.

He was a member of Blair United Methodist Church, was a former member of the Blair Chamber of Commerce, Blair American Legion, Blair Lions Club and was a former member of the Blair City Council.

He served in the Army during World War II.

He is survived by two daughters, Jean (Mrs. Jim) Paulsen of Blair and Nancy (Mrs. Jim) Miller of Las Vegas, Nevada; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Essie Stoddard of Hot Springs, Arkansas and a friend Gertie Adams of Red Oak.
