Pioneer Arlington Woman Is Called By Death

Mrs. Sarah E. Whitford, 81, died at her home at Arlington Monday evening following a stroke of paralysis. One year ago she fell and broke her hip, and since that time has been rapidly failing in health. She has lived in Arlington and vicinity for many years and was well and favorably known.

She was born at Dayton, Ohio, on April 15, 1842. When she was a young girl the family moved to Peoria, Ill., and in 1856 moved by ox team to Colorado, locating first at Golden and later at Georgetown. In the latter place she grew to womanhood and on September 26, 1863, was united in marriage to C. A. Whitford. In 1874 they moved to Arlington, known at that time as Belle Creek, and settled on a farm.

In 1907 they retired from farming and moved to town. Here Mr. Whitford died in 1912. Since that time Mrs. Whitford has made her home with her children, dying at the home of her son, William, in Arlington.

Surviving are one son, William A. of Arlington, three grandchildren, Mrs. George W. Misko of North Bend, Mrs. Chas. Misko of Chicago, and Murray Whitford of Arlington, and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held from the home at 2 o’clock, Wednesday afternoon, Rev. W. H. Buss officiating.
