Lloyd W. Whitmus, 80

Herman native Lloyd W. Whitmus, 80, of Fremont, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center in Scribner.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. A private family interment will be in the Herman Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held Wednesday beginning at 9 a.m.

Lloyd W. Whitmus was born Feb. 25, 1928, in Herman to Raymond and Esther (Cunningham) Whitmus. He grew up in Herman.

After the death of his father, he moved to Joplin, Mo., with his mother. He returned to Nebraska as a young adult and settled in Fremont where he worked at Plumfield Nurseries and later at Campbellā€™s Soup. He later worked for Clark Jenson Nurseries in Blair, and retired from that business in 1990.

On Nov. 3, 1961, he married Eiko Sano in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She survives him, as do several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters and a stepfather.
