Raymond R. Bena, 76

Raymond R. Bena, 76, of Omaha, died June 28, 2001.

Funeral services were held July 2 at Roeder Mortuary in Omaha. Masonic services were by Fort Calhoun Masonic Lodge No. 10, with military honors provided by Fort Calhoun V.F.W. 348. Interment was at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Bena was a founding and charter member of the Ponca Hills Fire Department, a member of the Fort Calhoun American Legion, and V.F.W. Post 348 of Fort Calhoun, Masonic Lodge No. 10 and Order of the Eastern Star.

He was very proud to have been a member of the Ponca Hills Fire Department for many, many years.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, June, son, Mike Johnson, daughters, Sue Smith and Kathy Ohrt, many beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends, sisters, Lillian Short of Blair, Helen Weber of Omaha, and Evelyn Rischling of Milligan, and brother, Stanley Bena of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Agnes Bena, brothers, William C. “Joe”, and Milton, sisters, Bessie Pendl, Madeline Cloudt, Janet Cyronek, Emily and Blanche.

Memorials are suggested to the Ponca Hills Fire Department or the donor’s favorite charity.
