Nial Charles Viles, 85, died at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Norfolk Sunday, June 15, 1997.

Services were Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Military Graveside Services were held in the Blair Cemetery.

Viles was born July 21, 1911 at Lyons, Neb. to George Walter and Bertha Emilla (Anderson) Viles. He attended school in Lyons. He lived in Lyons from 1911-1951; in Arlington from 1951-52; Blair from 1952-1988 and in Norfolk since that time. He served in the Army from 1942-45, during World War II. On Dec. 29, 1945, he married Berneta Loudon at Papillion, Neb. He farmed and worked for Kelly Ryan Equipment Co. until he retired.

Survivors are his four daughters, Susan (Mrs. Ron) Jensen, Omaha; Kathleen (Mrs. Clyde) Noyes, Craig, Neb.; Mrs. Anita Donahue, Springfield, Ohio and Mary Kay (Mrs. Carl) Williams, Omaha; eight grandchildren, Clyde Noyes, James Noyes, Robert Noyes, Mikie Donahue, Angie Donahue, Robbie Jensen, Jay Jensen and James Kalanowski; three great-grandchildren, Vivianna Jensen, Caleb Noyes and Evan Dane Arthur; three sisters, Jennie Carpender, Omaha; Belle Batey, Manhattan, Kan., and May Madsen, Blair and two brothers, Walter Viles, Lyons, Neb. and William Viles, Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Berneta in July, 1989.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
