Marian H. Vinderslev, 76

Services for Marion H. Vinderslev, 76, of Friend, were held Monday, March 11, 1996, at United Church of Christ in Friend with Rev. Robert R. Brauninger officiating. Burial was held at Herman Cemetery in Herman. She died Friday, March 8 at her home, south of Friend.

Marian H. Vinderslev was born June 30, 1919, to Oliver and Lena (Behrens) Johnson on a farm in Saunders County, the third of four children.

She graduated in 1937 from Mead High School. She married Chris N. Vinderslev on Feb. 5, 1950, at Paola, Kan.

Together they lived in Herman briefly before moving to Mead and Omaha, retiring to Friend in 1986.

She worked as a nurse’s aide at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont and Omaha and later as a cook for the Millard Public Schools, retiring in the early 1980s.

She was active in the Legion Auxiliary Friend Unit #183, the United Church of Christ Women’s Fellowship and the Sunshine Club. She was a member of the United Church of Christ of Friend and a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millard.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Iver Johnson.

Survivors include her husband, Chris of Friend; sons and daughter-in-law Ron Vinderslev of Omaha, Brad Vinderslev and special friend Lucynda Worms of Omaha and Norm and Linda Vinderslev of Kearney; nine grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Carlos and Dorothy Johnson of Yutan; sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Paul Rood of Wahoo; sister-in-law Ghelagh Johnson of Omaha and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to the United Church of Christ in Friend or Warren Memorial Hospital in Friend.

Lauber-Moore Funeral Home in Friend was in charge of arrangements.
