Frances L. Schmidt, 80

Frances L. Schmidt, 80, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died at her home on October 25, 2012.

Services were October 30 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. Interment was in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens in Cedar Falls.

Frances L. Fink was born January 12, 1932, in Winside to Louis and Vena (Klahn) Fink.

Her family moved to Fort Calhoun, where she grew up and attended schools. She lived there from 1934 to 1950.

On October 7, 1950, she married Carl Schmidt in Lincoln.

In June of 1968, the family moved to Cedar Falls.

She worked for Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls until she retired at the age of 60.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Angelo and Sue Schmidt of Cedar Falls and Carl Mike and Lynn Schmidt of Janesville, Iowa; four daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia Diane and Dale Castle of Waterloo, Barbara and David Bruns of Cedar Falls, Carol and Cole Kern of La Porte City, Iowa, and Tammy Becker of Cedar Falls; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Louise Shannon of Lombard, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, on April 28, 1982; brother Frederick Fink; and sister, Ruth Moffitt.
