Wilcox, Ellis Herbert

Veteran--NE. Nat’l Guard)

Ellis Herbert Wilcox, familiarly known as “Bert,” died in Omaha on Sunday evening, May 19th, of organic heart disease. He was manager or overseer of the Dahlman Club rooms in Omaha and the body was found Monday morning near the bath room for which he had evidently started. Word was sent to his father, L. A. Wilcox, for many years a resident of this city, but who now lives on a ranch near Trout Creek, Mont., but he wasn’t sure it was his son until other telegrams had been exchanged. He and Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Vaughan left there Friday morning and got into Omaha Sunday evening. They brought the body up here Monday afternoon and the funeral was held at the grave at 4 o’clock yesterday. Bert was 50 years old the first day of last January. He was a registered pharmacist and served in the hospital corps of the Nebraska National Guard during the Indian outbreak up at the Pine Ridge agency. He leaves a father, three sisters, Mrs. M. S. Morton, operator for the Northern Pacific at Trescot, Mont., Mrs. H. J. Vaughan, of Paradise, Mont., and Miss Marie E. (Lizzie) Wilcox who lives with her father at Trout Creek, Mont., two brothers, Fred L. of Missoula, conducter on the N. P. and Clarence, who is on a ranch near that of his father. He also leaves a daughter, Iva, who lives at Cherokee, Ia.
