Dean C. Coe, 87, of Fort Calhoun died Wednesday, December 5, 2012, in Fort Calhoun.

Services will begin at noon on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the First Lutheran Church in Blair. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Dean C. Coe was born October 16, 1925, in David City to Ralph and Ester Coe. They lived in the Omaha area during his childhood.

He married Mary Gloden when the two were 17 years old.

They moved to Oakland, Calif., during World War II and he worked for the Department of the Navy. After the war, they moved back to Nebraska. In 1954, they moved to rural Fort Calhoun and he worked as a farmer. He also started tile setting as a second income. In 1973, he moved to the city of Fort Calhoun. After retiring, the couple loved to travel and visit family. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends in Fort Calhoun.

He is survived by sons and their spouses, Thomas C. and Maria Coe of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; Michael D. Coe of Fort Calhoun, Richard G. Coe of Peru, South America, and William J. and Grace Coe of Euless, Texas; daughters and spouse, Sandra R. Jensen of Fort Calhoun, Susan E. and Patrick Kieny of Gilbert, Ariz., and Jeanette M. Coe of Las Cruces, N.M.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; and sons, Marvin Lee Coe and John Nicholas Coe.

Memorials may be directed to Fort Calhoun Fire and Rescue.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun was in charge of arrangements.
