Robert G. Rohwer Sr., 92

Robert G. Rohwer Sr., 92, died peacefully at his home in Stillwater, Okla., on Saturday, December 1, 2012, after a long struggle with congestive heart failure.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church. There is no visitation. Interment will be in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Robert George Rohwer was born in Fort Calhoun on November 20, 1920, to George and Loy (Ream) Rohwer.

He attended the University of Nebraska and graduated with a degree in chemistry. In 1942, he married Barbara Jean Richards of Omaha.

He worked with Grain Processing Corporation in Muscatine, Iowa, and developed corn starch products essential to glossy print paper and paper diapers. He retired as vice president of sales for the company.

Mr. Rohwer was an avid duck hunter and fisherman who supported many conservation groups and enjoyed spending time at the family cottage in Canada.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Barbara Jean Rohwer of Stillwater, Okla.; children, Dr. Robert G. Rohwer of Ellicott City, Md., Heidi Hoart of Stillwater, Okla., Rebecca Hunsinger of Los Alamos, N.M., and Dr. Richard J. Rohwer of San Diego; sister, Beth Denniston of Shady Side, Md.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun is in charge of arrangements.
