CHAS. WIDENER DEATH VICTIM

Charles P. Widener, husband of the Kennard postmistress, died Tuesday evening, May 8 after a month of sickness. Mr. Widener suffered a stroke of paralysis 18 years ago and since that time has been a wheel-chair invalid.

He was born January 28, 1870, at Lodi, Va., and came to Nebraska as a boy forty-two years ago. He was married to Miss Bertha Tietsort in 1897, and is survived by his wife and by two daughters, Mrs. Cora French and Mrs. Dorothy Rosenbaum, both of this community.

A brother, Thomas Widener of Virginia, and a sister, Mrs. Fannie Le Crone of Helena, Oklahoma also survive.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at two o’clock from the Methodist Church at Kennard.

WIDNER PASSES OVER DIED AT HIS HOME IN KENNARD LAST EVENING AFTER AN ILLNESS OF OVER 18 YEARS Charles Widener passed over at 11:20 last evening after an illness of eighteen years duration, sixteen years of that time being spent in a wheel chair. He suffered a paralytic stroke eighteen years ago and never recovered from it. He grew gradually worse and has been near death’s door for several days. The funeral service will be held at the Methodist church at 2 o’clock tomorrow, Thursday afternoon, with burial in the Kennard cemetery. Mr. Widener was born in Lodi, Va., January 28th, 1870 so was 57 years of age his last birthday. He came to this county when a young man of sixteen and worked near Arlington. He was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Tietsort, August 16th, 1896 and five children were born to them, but two of whom are living, Mrs. Harland French and Mrs. Clyde Rosenbaum. He leaves, also, one sister, Mrs. John Lecrone of Helena, Okla., and one brother, Tom Widener of Lodi, Va. The bereaved wife and daughters have the sincere sympathy of their many friends. Pilot, May 16, 1928 OBITUARY: Charles Widener, who had been critically ill for the past two weeks, passed away at his home last Tuesday evening. Mr. Widener had been an invalid for eighteen years and was forced to use a wheel chair most of this time. Charles Porter Widener was born at Lodi, Washiington county, Virginia, January 25, 1870, and was at the time of his death, 58 years, 4 months and 14 days of age. He came to this country when a young man and on August 16, 1897 was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Tietsort. To this union five children were born, two of whom died in infancy and Winnifred in 1922 at the age of 17 years. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs..Harland French and Mrs. Clyde L. Rosenbaum, of Kennard; one sister, Mrs. Fannie LeCrone of Helena, Oklahoma and one brother Thomas, of Lodi, Va., and two grandsons, besides a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the M.E. church Thursday afternoon with burial in the Kennard cemetery.
