Kenneth J. Widener, 54

Kenneth J. Widener, 54, of Herman, died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah. Interment with military honors will be at the Blair Cemetery.

Kenneth J. Widener was born April 24, 1951 in Blair to Howard and Alma (Swanson) Widener. He attended county school at Hill Creek and graduated from Herman High School in 1969.

He married Shari Meyer in 1970. Mr. Widener served in the Navy Reserves, and was stationed in California from 1970 to 1972, before returning home to the family farm in Herman after his discharge.

At the time of his death, he was employed by Jasa Transit and he also raised cattle. He was a member of the Herman American Legion and was a past commander.

He is survived by his son, Tim Widener of Herman; daughter and son-in-law, Jill and David Bitter of Tekamah; six grandchildren; brother, Bob Widener of Key West, Fla., and sister, Mary Snow of Blair.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
