Mrs. Frederick Wielau

Report of the death, at the M. E. Hospital in Omaha, was received in Blair on Wednesday, of Mrs. Frederick Wielau, a highly respected lady, resident of Blair and Washington county for many years. One son, Herman, well-known in Blair, is the only surviving relative in this country. Deceased was 74 years of age and had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Samson since returning from So. Dakota some weeks ago, where she and her son, Herman, had been for a year on a homestead. Funeral services will be held this Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the German Lutheran Church, deceased being a communicant of that church, Rev. Mr. Lambrecht officiating, and the remains will be interred in the Blair cemetery.

Mrs. Wielau’s death was quite unexpected and a shock to her numerous friends. One of her lady friends visited her at the hospital in Omaha previous to her death and it was arranged that she was to return to her own home in Blair on Tuesday, the day of her death. Mrs. Samson, Mrs. Brenbarger and a number of others of her lady friends had given her home (opposite the McQuarrie residence) and furnishings a thorough house-cleaning and arranged everything in order against her homecoming when the announcements of her demise was received. There was a unanimous feeling amongst these ladies, her friends and neighbors, of personal bereavenment in the sudden loss of her companionship. Cancer was the cause of her death.
