Alfred Lawrence Eriksen, 82

Funeral services were Wednesday, September 27, at the Herman United Methodist Church in Herman for Alfred L. Eriksen, 82, of Schuyler and formerly of Herman, who died at the Schuyler Memorial Hospital in Schuyler, Nebraska, on Saturday evening, September 23, 1989. Rev. Larry G. Orvis officiated. Interment was in the Herman Cemetery.

Alfred L. Eriksen was born August 11, 1907, at Herman, Nebraska, to John Paul and Johanna Petersen Eriksen. He grew up on his parents' farm west of Herman and attended Pleasant Hill School.

He worked with his parents on the farm for some time before buying his own farm. In addition to farming, he also did general hauling and trucking in the 1930's.

He married Lois Burgess Turney on June 19, 1968, at Fremont.

He had been a resident of Fremont for 19 years prior to moving to Schuyler in April of 1985. After retiring from farming, he worked for Mid-States Oil Company north of Fremont for three years.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Eriksen of Schuyler; one sister, Anna Gould of Walden, Colorado; and one nephew, John Gould of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Lorraine Brown Eriksen; one brother, Walter Eriksen; and one sister, Lilly Christoffersen.

Hamel & Peck was in charge of arrangements for the services.
