Hildred Wiese, 93

Hildred H. Wiese, 93, of Uehling, died Feb. 18.

Services were Feb. 22, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Uehling. Burial was in the Swaburg Cemetery in rural Hooper.

Hildred Wiese was born June 19, 1906, to John Frederick and Anna Maria (Hovendick) Grabbe in Herman.

She was baptized and confirmed in Vacoma Lutheran Church in rural Herman. She attended Spiker School in rural Herman. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Uehling, and a long time member of St. Paul’s LCW and a Sunday School teacher for 27 years. She was a member of the Uehling Y-Teen adult council from 1962 to 1965.

On Nov. 30, 1926, she married William A. Wiese at her parent’s home in rural Herman. The couple farmed in rural Herman, Hooper and Oakland before moving to Uehling in 1950 following a tornado that destroyed their home. She entered the nursing home in Lyons in September of 1999.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, William and Mary Kelly of Sioux City, Iowa; a sister, Dorothy Heinssen of rural Blair; a brother and sister-in-law, Leland and Elaine Grabbe of rural Herman; nine nephews and eight nieces and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; a sister, Violet Babbitt; four brothers, Max Herman, William, Edward and John Grabbe, Jr. and one sister-in-law, Opal Grabbe.

Memorials are suggested to the Burt/Washington Home Health Care Hospice.

Warne-Johnson Funeral Home in Hooper was in charge of arrangements.
