Funeral Held Friday For John T. Wiese

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 7, 1977 for John T. Wiese, 66, long-time Fort Calhoun resident, who passed away on October 4th at the Blair Hospital. Services were conducted by Rev. Lynn Williams at Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church, as were Masonic rites. Sievers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements, and burial was made in Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Mr. Wiese was born on October 21, 1908, on a farm near Kennard, Nebraska. He was engaged in farming most of his life in the surrounding area. In 1968 he and his wife, Lorraine, retired to Fort Calhoun.

In addition to his wife and daughter, Peggy Hanshaw of Scottsdale, Arizona, four brothers and one sister survive. They are Andrew and Harry of Blair; Ferdinand of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Alfred of Kennard; and Mrs. Dora Wrich of Kennard. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Wiese was a longtime member of Solomon Lodge No. AF & AM, and a past member of the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church, where he was also a member of The Mariners.

Pallbearers were: Russell Christensen, Mark Allen, Lyle Christensen, Virgil Rohlff, Andrew Wrich, Merle Wiese and Darrell Wiese. Shirley McNew was vocalist and organist was Carol Sprick.
