Leona E. Wiese, 80, of Blair died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1997, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery. A prayer service will be Thursday at 8 p.m. at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home.

She was born on March 25, 1917, in rural Washington County to Peter A. and Mary (Lund) Johnsen. She attended the Dornacker School.

On Oct. 12, 1938, she married Clarence Wiese in Blair. They lived in the Kennard and Rosehill area before moving to Blair, where she has lived the past 27 years.

Leona cooked at Cope’s Café. She worked for Memorial Community Hospital in housekeeping for 12 years.

She was member of the First Lutheran Church, Blair Eagles and Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include one daughter, Leanna Metz of Blair; one brother, Raymond Johnsen of Bennington; one sister, Gladys Matzen of Blair; five grandchildren, Tina Barnard, Chester Wiese, Jr., Betty Sprick, Amy Hansen, Lance Hansen and Bailey Metz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence; one son, Chester William; three brothers, John, Mathias and Vern Johnsen and one sister, Edna Paulsen.

Memorials may be given to the Blair Rescue Squad or First Lutheran Church.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
