Services held for William Wilbur

Funeral services for 92 year old William Floyd Wilbur were held on Monday, January 7, 1985 at Campbell Funeral Home. The Reverend Gordon L. Patterson officiated. Music was provided by Clare Cowing. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

William Floyd Wilbur was born on December 27, 1892 in Rawlins County, Kansas to William Samuel and Viola C. (Kidball) Wilbur.

He married Edna D. Thomas on May 23, 1923 in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple had no children.

Mr. Wilbur enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in France during World War I. He and his wife moved to Blair where they operated a café. Mr. Wilbur also worked as a janitor for the Blair Public Schools. In later years he was an independent carpenter who constructed many homes in south Blair. A street was created which skirted his property and it was named Wilbur Drive, a name which the street still holds today.

He and his wife resided at Crowell Memorial Home for a number of years. He will long be remembered there for his crafty macramé work and his thoughtfulness to others. His wife, Edna, preceded him in death on December 14, 1970. The past several years, Mr. Wilbur made his home with his nephew, Gene Thomas and family near Blair, Nebraska.

Survivors include one sister, Lulu Wilbur of Nevada, Iowa and one brother, Walter of Missouri and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Steve Thomas, Mick Rouse, Larry Roberts, Bernard Thompson, Rob Thompson and Arnold Rosterman.
