Harley “Lyle” Wilcox, 71

Services for Harley L. (Lyle) Wilcox, 71 of Blair who died June 10, 1993 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair after a lengthy illness were Monday, June 14 at the First Christian Church in Blair. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Harley Lyle Wilcox was born October 13, 1921 at Blair to Harley F. and Eva McDonald Wilcox. He grew up on the family farm in rural Blair and attended the long Creek School.

On September 8, 1942 he entered the Army serving in the India-Burma and China Offensives during World War II. He was discharged on Jan 3, 1946.

On June 9, 1949, he married Elsie Watkins in Oakland, Nebraska.

He was a lifelong resident of Blair. He worked as a mechanic for Washington County Motors for over 15 years. He then worked for the Blair Community Schools at the bus barn and later as a custodian there, retiring in 1983.

Lyle was a member of the First Christian Church and the Blair Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim.

Surviving are his wife, Elsie; four children and their spouses, Janice and Tim Cleaver of Modale, Iowa, Kent and Rita of Blair, Mary and Bill Meyer of Omaha and John and Bonnie of Blair; nine grandchildren; two brothers; Duane (Harlo) of Kennard and Allan of Omaha and one sister, Jane Nelson of Omaha.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
