Ronald V. Vollmer, 55

Ronald V. Vollmer, 55, of Fontanelle, died Dec. 28, 2002, at the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln. Mr. Vollmer died as a result of injuries incurred in an Oct. 12, 2002, automobile accident in Kansas City, Mo.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, in the Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle, with Rev. Titus Ngebeh and Rev. Robert Kocher officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Fremont Honor Guard of the American Legion Post No. 20 and V.F.W. Post No. 854.

Visitation began Monday, and will also be held Tuesday at the church, one hour prior to services.

Ronald V. Vollmer was born Feb. 7, 1947, in Wichita, Kan., to Vincent and Mildred (Gramlich) Vollmer. He grew up in Kansas City, Mo. After graduating from high school, he attended a trade school where he received a diploma in drafting.

He was a Vietnam veteran, and served in the United States Air Force from 1967 until 1975. His specialty was in Intelligence. His last duty station was Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue.

On May 28, 1972, he was married to Ellen R. Ruwe in the Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle. The couple lived in Omaha until moving to Fontanelle 22 years ago.

October of 2002 marked Mr. Vollmer’s 26th year of employment with Pinnacle Foods (formerly Campbell Soup Co.) in Omaha. He was still employed with the company at the time of his death.

Mr. Vollmer is survived by his wife, Ellen; two sons, David Vollmer of Fremont and Frank Vollmer of Fontanelle; his mother, Mildred Vollmer of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pam and David Perryman of Kansas City, Kan., and Sharon and John Alvarez of San Ramon, Calif.; and his mother-in-law, Mildred Ruwe of Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vincent.

Memorials are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
