Lew E. Renard, 91, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012, in Casa Grande, Ariz.

A memorial service was Friday, December 21, at Mountain View Cemetery in Casa Grande.

Lew Esther Henderson was born April 23, 1921, in St. John’s, Kan., to Lewis and Esther Henderson.

She graduated from Beatrice High School and then from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor of science degree in education.

On May 28, 1944, she married the love of her life, Hugh Myron Renard, in Beatrice.

She taught for 24 years, primarily at Blair High School. She taught home economics and inspired and motivated all who sat in her classes. She obtained her master of science degree in 1964.

She loved to play bridge and enjoyed the arts. She played the violin and belonged to the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra for a couple of years. She was a member of the PEO HL Chapter of Blair.

The couple loved to travel and visited much of the United States and traveled to the Caribbean and to Europe.

They lived in Pierce, Wahoo, Omaha, Nashville and Blair, and then in Tucson, Ariz., and Casa Grande.

She is survived by her husband, Hugh; her sons and daughters-in-law, Hugh II and Leah of Casa Grande, Jerry and Nancy of Curtis, and Robin and Pat of Bennington; 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Katherine Kilpatrick.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
