Arlene V. Sonderup, 84

Arlene V. Sonderup, 84, of Blair died peacefully at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Randy Blomker, on Monday, December 17, 2012, in Blair.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 22, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, December 21, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Arlene V. Olson was born April 6, 1928, to Theodore N. and Ida R. (Jensen) Olson of Blair.

She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Blair.

She attended Pleasant View School and in 1945 graduated from Herman High School.

She worked at Hancock Farm Equipment as a bookkeeper after high school. On February 23, 1947, she married Merle Sonderup at First Lutheran Church in Blair, the day of her parents 20th wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Sonderup had numerous jobs during her life. She was a farm wife and mother. She later worked at Dairy Queen and the Blair Newspaper.

She enjoyed reading, football, NASCAR, listening to her scanner and talking on the phone. She painted ceramics which she gave away to family and friends. The last few years she spent cutting clothes apart to make quilt blocks for Love Days at church. She cut tens of thousands of blocks and really enjoyed this, and will be missed.

Family and friends were very important to her.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Randy Blomker of Blair and Ruth and Bruce Arp of Papillion; son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Kathy Sonderup of Blair; daughter-in-law, Kelli Sonderup of Blair; nine grandchildren; four great-grandsons; five step-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Norma Olson and Kaye Sonderup, both of Blair.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle; son, Wayne; granddaughter, Mari; and brother, Don Olson.
