Died on 6/26/1901

Pilot 27 Jun 1901

Mrs. Elsie A Wildman, nee, Wood, was born in Gilbertsville, Otsege Co. N. York, July 24, 1816; died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Geo. Bailey, at Blair, Nebraska, 5 o’clock a. m., June 26, 1901, aged 84 years 11 months and two days. In May 1842 she was married to Nelson F. Hopper, with whom she lived until his death in May 1861*. Five years thereafter she was married to Mr. Horace Wildman who was grandfather to the late Consul General Wildman. Since his decease in 1891 she has lived among her children in the West, and seven years of that time, with her daughter, Mrs. Mary E. Bailey, besides whom, she leaves three sons, viz: Messrs. Bryron D., Geo. W. and John J. Hopper, all of whom reside in Nebraska. She has been a member of the M. E. Church for sixty five years and has ever adorned the “doctrine of Christ our Saviour”. In her, the passing years matured a sweet-spirited, gentle, motherly saint, whose exit from earth will be deeply felt by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. Death, though grim and relentless, had for her no terrors. By the side of her departed husband, in the cemetery at Whitesville, Allegheny county, New York, her remains will await the resurrection call. Peace to her sleeping dust, while indescribable beatitudes (print unreadable)
