Alfred H. Wilkening, 91

Alfred H. Wilkening, 91, of Fremont, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at the Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Robert Kocher officiated. Interment was at Memorial Cemetery.

Alfred H. Wilkening was born on Oct. 21, 1908, on the farm near Arlington to Henry and Amelia (Strenger) Wilkening. He was baptized and confirmed in the Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle.

On March 29, 1929, he married Golda Williams in Wahoo.

Mr. Wilkening farmed northeast of Fremont in Washington and Dodge counties until he retired. He moved into Fremont in 1975.

He was a member of Fremont’s Salem Lutheran Church.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Ethel Wilkening of Omaha; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Dorothy Wilkening of Arlington.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Golda; a brother, Ray Wilkening; and a sister, Norma Bartling.

Memorials are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church of Fremont.

Ludvigsen Mortuary of Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
