Alfred Wilkening

Alfred H. Wilkening, 91, of Fremont died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Wilkening was born Oct. 21, 1908, on a farm near Arlington. He farmed northeast of Fremont in Washington and Dodge counties until retiring. He married Golda Williams March 29, 1929, in Wahoo. He moved into Fremont in 1975. She died in March 1997.

He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont.

Survivors include: a son, Wayne (and wife, Ethel) Wilkening of Omaha; a brother, Henry (and wife, Dorothy) Wilkening of Arlington; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Salem Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Kocher officiating. Visitation will be until 9 tonight with family receiving friends 6-8 tonight, both at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time in the church.

Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

A memorial has been established to Salem Lutheran Church.
