Murl A. Madsen, 85, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died December 13, 2012.
A memorial service was in Mesa on Saturday, January 5.
Murl A. Madsen was born on June 20, 1927, in Blair to Harold J. and Selma (Hansen) Madsen.
He graduated from Blair High School in June 1945 and immediately entered the U.S. Navy with his twin brother, Burl.
He attended Dana College, the University of Iowa and Hamilton Business College.
He was always active in musical activities and golf. He entertained many people with his sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Fred Donaldson; brother and sister-in-law, Robert "Bob" and Sharon; stepdaughters Connie Smith and Pam (Mike) Hoogerwerf; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold J. "Chick", Charles, Donald, twin brother Burl and John "Jack"; sisters, Harriett and Betty; and stepson, Craig Ritchie.
Mountain View Funeral Home in Mesa was in charge of arrangements.
