JOHN KLOTZ A SUICIDE

John Klotz, a member of a pioneer family of this county and a family always held in the highest respect, committed suicide last Saturday afternoon by hanging himself from a baluster of the stairs in his home.

Three brothers, Albert, John and George, lived together on the old home farm south of Kennard. Albert was called to the army a few weeks ago. Apparently the shock of his leaving was too much for George and he was taken to the Clarkson Hospital where he is still a patient. This left John alone and the supposition is that he became despondent with the grief of losing the two brothers and the responsibilities thus thrust upon him and he decided to end it all.

On Sunday the strange action of the live stock attracted the attention of the neighbors and two of them visited the home and found him.

The authorities were notified and Albert, the brother, was also notified and obtained a leave of absence from the army and hastened home.

A sister, Mrs. Henry Rix and two brothers, Albert and George are left to mourn his death. The sympathy of the entire neighborhood goes out to these people.

Funeral services were held, Wednesday afternoon, from Campbellā€™s Mortuary with Rev. A. W. Clarke of Herman officiating and interment was made in the Kennard cemetery.

*Note by Sue---Max Klotz, a brother, also survived.
