Golda Wilkening, 87 of Fremont died Monday, March 31, 1997 at the Fremont Area Medical Center.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont with Rev. Leland G. Uden officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery.

Wilkening was born Nov. 26, 1909 at Hooper to Thomas and Hannah (Bishop) Williams. She grew up in Fontanelle and was baptized and confirmed in the Fontanelle Salem Lutheran Church. She graduated from Fremont High School and received her degree in education from Midland College. She taught in Washington County, Saunders County and in the Hooper school system. On March 29, 1929, she married Alfred Wilkening. They farmed northeast of Fremont most of their married years and moved to Fremont in 1974.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.

Survivors are her husband, Alfred; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Ethel Wilkening of Omaha; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, two great-great-children and two sisters, nina Andersen and Verna Krieg, both of Fremont.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.

Ludvigsen Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
