Services Held for Albert Wilkins

Funeral services were held Monday, June 21, at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Chapel in Grand Island for Albert E. Wilkins, 70, 2618 Sunny Brooke Road, Grand Island, who died June 17, 1982, at a Grand Island hospital. The Rev. George H. Peak officiated.

Services were held at Campbell Mortuary in Blair Monday afternoon. The Rev. Jess Hansen officiated. Burial was in Blair Cemetery.

Albert E. Wilkins was born November 13, 1911, in Blair to Albert A. and Mary Vorhies Wilkins. He grew up and received his education in Blair, graduating from Blair High School in 1929.

He was married to Margaret J. Jones on April 3, 1929, in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple made their home in Blair for a short time, then moved to Omaha where he was employed at the Martin Bomber Plant during World War II.

Following the war, he joined the Kennedy Parsons Company in Omaha. He moved to Grand Island to work as a salesman in 1947 and made his home there until his death.

He was a Master Mason of the Grand Island Lodge #318, the Tehama Temple in Hastings, the Hastings Consistry, the Central Nebraska Shrine Club, the Liederkranz, the Grand Island Saddle Club and the Elks. He was also active in the Senior Citizens organization.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; and one daughter, Phyllis Muhs of Grand Island. Four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Warren M. Wilkins of Squin, Washington; three sisters, Mrs. Percy (Lillian) Christensen of Burly, Idaho; Mrs. Clarence (Mae) Hansen and Mrs. Ray (Evelyn) Gillette of Blair; and many nieces and nephews, and many nieces and nephews also survive him.

Pallbearers were Keith Hansen, George Ryan, Dick Nielsen, Don Kohler, Harry Paulsen and Lyle Christensen. Three grandsons were honorary pallbearers.

Memorials are suggested to the Heart Fund.
